My Dear People,
On Tuesday morning, June 16, I entered the care of Orthopedic Specialists (OAA) at LVHN-Cedar Crest for the total replacement of my left hip. During my recovery and rehabilitation I will reside at Holy Family Villa, 1325 Prospect Ave. in Bethlehem (18018-4916). The length of my stay is unpredictable at this point. I anticipate July 16 as the earliest discharge date though sometime in August is also possible.
Allentown area clergy will provide hospital visitation, Anointing of the Sick, Christian Burial and other pastoral needs. You must call this rectory and inform us about such matters, otherwise we will not know.
Office hours will be conducted according to the new schedule:
- Sun & Mon: Closed
- Tue, Thu, Sat: 8:30am–3:30pm
- Wed & Fri: Closed – However, office staff will be accessible remotely and will be available to assist you as needed until 3:30pm.
The Mass schedule, by necessity, will be severely curtailed. The availability of priests to supply Masses according to the current schedule, along with the fees per Mass and Confession, underlies my decision.
- Sunday Masses will be offered at 8am in English, and 10:15am in Latin. The 4:30pm Vigil Mass will be discontinued until further notice.
- All weekday Masses will be discontinued until further notice.
- Rev. Edward B. Connolly will be the visiting priest starting July 5. For the weekends of June 21 and 28, there will be only one Mass: 8am in English.
These are temporary changes and result from my medical condition.
Pray for the health care staff at LVHC and Holy Family Manor/Villa as well. Pray for one another lest you prey upon one another. Take St. Paul’s exhortation about putting Charity above all things seriously and ardently. Lastly pray for me as I pray for you with deepest affection and steadfast love.
I Remain, Devotedly Your Pastor,
Rev. William N. Seifert
